Made with Pride in the USA
Mike Dobiesz has a background in scale modeling, welding and woodworking. He recently began his lifelong relationship with Jamie Conant. Jamie helped Mike realize his full artistic potential and he began doing sculpture in copper earlier this year. Many of pieces first pieces are ideas that have been in his mind for years and now are being realized. Others sent Ideas and custom sculpture requests. He builds from these and other sources to develop most of his concepts.
All Pieces are original one of a kind Artwork. Although Mike can make pieces that are similar to others already produced none will be exact duplicates. The Copper used is recycled mostly from used electrical wire and copper water pipe. Mike scraps and flattens piping and cut the shapes with a jewelers saw. Mike has always had a fascination for antique tools and uses many in his copper work. Hammers, anvils and chisels are the most common but he also is very creative in his use of unconventional items to achieve effects on design, shaping and finishing of his work.
Custom work or ideas for pieces are always welcome. Although most pieces are small due the shop space and tool size considerations, Mike will able to make your piece the way you have always pictured it in your mind.
